This jersey is awesome! Jersey shows incredible use with a ton of puck
marks, a few nice repairs, red post paint on sleeves, significant pilling,
and general filth. Custom inserts were added at the hem to make the
jersey wider. Jersey was worn during a season in which Garon won the
CHL Goaltender of the Year Award, CHL First Team All-Star honors, the
Jacques Plante Trophy for the best QMJHL goaltender, as well as QMJHL
All-Star honors. Garon is the future of the L.A. Kings.
Mathieu Garon was born January 9, 1980 in Chandler, Quebec. The second round, 44th overall selection of the Montreal Canadiens in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft, Garon is a graduate of the QMJHL's Victoriaville Tigres. A promising young netminder, Garon enjoyed an award-filled tenure in the QMJHL. During his rookie year in 1995-96, the Chandler, QC native was a QMJHL All-Rookie Team member and the Defensive Rookie of the Year. In the 1997-98 season, he collected the CHL Goaltender of the Year Award and CHL First Team All-Star honors, the Jacques Plante Trophy for the best QMJHL goaltender, as well as QMJHL All-Star honors. That year, Garon went 27-28-2 with a 2.68 GAA. After three years in Victoriaville, Montreal promoted him to their AHL affiliate in Fredericton in 1998-99 and he went to play parts of two seasons in the AHL before earning his first NHL call-up in 2000-01. He appeared in eleven games, going 4-5-1 with a 2.44 GAA. Over the course of the next two seasons, Garon split his time with the AHL and Montreal before becoming the number two netminder behind Jose Theodore in 2003-04. In his first full season with Montreal, Garon finished with a 8-6-2 record and 2.27 GAA, before being dealt to the Los Angeles Kings as part of a three-way trade with the Kings and Ottawa Senators in the summer of 2004. |
