48 Scott Daniels

About the Jersey
1991-92 Hartford Whalers
Road CCM Knit, Size 52, 75th Patch, Pre-Season (Rookie) Jersey

Moderate overall wear with great puck/stick marks, some nice board burns, multiple red paint transfers on the sleeves, and "48" written in black sharpie in the neck tag. Great piece worn by this former NHL tough guy!

As a 7th round draft pick, 136th overall, Scott Daniels was a long-shot at even making it to the NHL. He was selected by the Hartford Whalers in the 1989 Entry Draft. The team liked his toughness and he certainly had plenty of that. Daniels played with three major junior teams in four years in the WHL, which included a year as an overage player with the Regina Pats in 1989-90. The extra year gave Daniels the opportunity to improve his offensive skills. He scored 28 goals and 31 assists for 59 points while accumulating 171 minutes in penalties in 53 games. The previous year he spent 241 minutes in the box, scoring 21 goals and 26 assists for 47 points. Daniels also served time with the New Westminster Bruins and the Kamloops Blazers.

Daniels toiled in the minors for three years before getting the chance to play a game in the NHL. In his only game of the 1992-93 season, he managed to collect 19 minutes in penalties. Daniels knew what his role was with the team--to act as a policeman and protecting the club's star players.

It would be another two years before Daniels played another NHL game. He dressed for 12 contests with Hartford in 1994-95, to add some muscle to the team. He had 277 penalty minutes with Springfield of the AHL in just 48 games.

Daniels had just two legitimate NHL seasons, where he played in a regular number of games. In 1995-96, he dressed for 53 games with the Whalers, picking up 254 penalty minutes while hitting the scoresheet on just seven occasions. The following year Daniels ended up in Philadelphia where he dressed for 56 games, scoring five goals and three assists for eight points and 237 minutes in penalties. All eight of Daniels' NHL goals came in those two seasons.

He played a total of 27 games over two seasons with the New Jersey Devils before retiring in 1999. In 149 games, he scored eight goals and 12 assists for 20 points and a staggering 667 minutes in penalties.
